The restaurant is located in a world heritage site. The atmosphere is good and the staff are very attentive and the food is delicious, especially the Tochigi wagyu., But the surprise is the cheesecake which is very delicious.

The food was amazing!! I was visiting Nikko with my dad, and after a long day of sightseeing, was looking for great food. This was off the beaten path, and we had no reservation, but they happily accommodated us. (That being said, it got very busy, and I would recommend making a reservation due to limited tables). The food was phenomenal! We each ordered the wagyu filet, and when I tell you it was the most tender piece of steak that melted like butter in your mouth. The sauce only enhanced the dish. This meal will live rent free in my memories of Japan. This is a must when visiting Nikko - you won't be disappointed!

Just opposite to Shinkyo bridge with a few steps uphill. Free parking on site. Very good quality wagyu steak. Ordered the A3, less fat. Tender and juicy. Love it.

I’d like to thank the restaurant staff for the exceptional food and service. The atmosphere was magical, the meat was the best I’ve ever had, and all the additional dishes we ordered were also incredibly delicious, we really enjoyed our time there. Even the wine recommendation we received matched our dishes perfectly. The staff were attentive and truly went above and beyond. We stayed in Nikko for two nights and ended up having dinner here both evenings. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

I dont even know where to start, when it came to dinner this place was easily second to none, not just because of the food. The people, the history they lay out in every part of this place, it's truly a beautiful experience in every aspect. The staff is amazing, willing to talk and carrying a genuinely friendly and joyful attitude, was a pleasure to talk to everyone even alot of the other customer just seemed in such a jovial mood willing to talk to meet eachother. The food was amazing the Hamburg steak was amazing easily the best meal ive had my whole trip so far with the steak over rice and miso soup being the second. Ive had alot of steak in my life but this one was a next level of tender ive never seen before, the Hamburg steak also was amazing the sauce was amazing the meat was superb and my only gripe was that I didnt order it twice, truly one of my best food experiences in my life, I hope one day I can make it back to come a third time. Thank you Myōgetsubō for this truly life changing food and experience.

Exceptional. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance, service, and cuisine were nothing short of extraordinary. The menu offers two distinct tiers—those seeking to indulge in the renowned Tochigi Wagyu (a must-try) will find it well worth the splurge, while a range of thoughtfully prepared dishes are available at more accessible prices. A thunderstorm rolled in during my visit, extending my stay far beyond what I’d planned—and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to wait it out. The drink selection is solid (with a few unique tipples), the atmosphere warm and inviting, and every detail felt intentional. A memorable evening in Nikko, made even better by the unexpected.

This would have been an excellent experience, with the stellar service provided by the manager and the other service staff, who were not only attentive but also friendly. The only real unfortunate downside was that I got some slight diarrhoea afterwards. Else this would have been an easy 5 star pick. This was, I suspect due to how rich the A5 Tochigi Wagyu was, as well as how strongly flavoured the garlic-soy sauces and accompaniments were. Nothing against A5 Wagyu, but I’ve had it a couple of times in different places and it was always a bit too much for me in terms of how much fat it had; sometimes it felt like I was eating cow butter. If you’re here, go for the A3, it’s far juicier, has a stronger beef note and has a good bite to it. Solid choice all round. Ambience is good as well, but again I have to give props to the service staff - they are impeccable and made the experience memorable.
